The Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit is under the command and control of the Support Services Bureau, Criminal Enforcement Command located in Columbia, Howard County, Maryland. Established in1991, the Unit was originally staffed with two investigators. Since its inception the Unit has grown significantly and presently consists of 16 sworn personnel and two civilians. The Computer Crimes Unit comprises several subunits to include: Computer Crime Investigators, Computer Forensic Laboratory, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Maryland Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the Maryland Center for Missing Children. The Unit is also responsible for coordinating mass arrest processing procedures and the Counter-Terrorism Command Center.
